PROBLEM

Residents in modern neighborhoods often struggle to stay informed, connected, and engaged with their local community. Important updates, services, events, and announcements are scattered across multiple channels — leading to missed information, weak communication, and limited interaction between neighbors.

There is no centralized, user-friendly digital platform that brings together essential neighborhood services, community updates, and resident communication in one accessible place.

Understanding the Pain Points

Through short user interviews and targeted surveys, we identified key frustrations among neighborhood residents: scattered updates, difficulty accessing local services, and weak community interaction. These insights revealed clear gaps in the current experience and guided the direction for Liwan’s design.

From Insights to Solution Design

Drawing from the survey data and interview insights, we analyzed the recurring challenges using methods like affinity mapping to uncover the core communication gaps in modern neighborhoods. These findings shaped our direction and guided us in designing a streamlined digital solution. By translating user needs into clear user stories and running design sprints, we created features that centralize services, simplify access to information, and support meaningful community interaction — forming the foundation of the Liwan app.

In Conclusion

Liwan was developed to address the communication gaps and social disconnect found in modern neighborhoods. Through a combination of surveys, interviews, and insight analysis, we identified clear needs related to accessing services, staying informed, and building community connections. These findings guided the design of a focused digital solution that centralizes updates, organizes local services, and supports meaningful resident interaction.

The final prototype demonstrates how a unified platform can transform neighborhoods into more connected, informed, and engaging communities — offering residents a simpler, more reliable way to navigate daily life.
